TrapperEd and DNR Hunter Education Classes

A quick post to share this info I received a week or so ago from the DNR via email.

United States TrapperEd.com:  Online courses and info for in-person certification courses in trapping methods, safety, ethics and responsibility.  Right now it looks like there are a couple state-specific courses online and one that's for the US in general.

These are two Michigan.gov sources but take the idea and run with it in searching for your home state info online.
  • Michigan DNR Education & Outreach Page:  This is the general listing page for educational resources through the DNR including Becoming and Outdoors Woman (BOW), state park activities and programs for educators and students.
Most of these are low cost or no cost.  Sometimes I've seen signs at my local state parks for things such as maple syruping demos, fishing, archery 101, etc., so they're great resources for introductory info for adults and kids.

Edited to add:  There's talk that if there's a government shutdown, then national park services will be some of the first to be affected.  Who knows but I'll look into alternatives to the above and list them in another post.
