Milkweed Uses for Food, Insulation and Tinder
I found an excellent article over at Squidoo by fellow lensmaster Elinar_A on the many uses of milkweed pods. The author explains the process of removing the down from milkweed pods and drying it out to be used to stuff quilts and clothing and as tinder. Here's the link. He mentions some of the edible uses but doesn't give recipes but I found a couple of videos on the edible aspects of milkweed. In the first video, she discusses how you can't eat it raw and why which is good to know before you just start picking weeds and eating them.
I've seen some videos where people say you can eat the young pods raw. But I'm no expert, so do your research. The author of this article talks about the milkweed phenomenon which is how milkweed varies in different geographical areas.
