Make Your Own Herbal Salve
It's easy to make your own salve for dry skin. One of the ingredients is beeswax, and since some of you are probably trying your hand at beekeeping or are part of a barter system with beekeepers as well as growing your own medicinal herbs, this is a great recipe for you to try.
I first learned about making herbal oils in the early 90s during a workshop on natural health with friends. I incorporated this into making some of my own skincare items. It's great for elbows and feet and dry, cracked hands. If you put it on your hands or feet at night and then cover with gloves or socks, you should feel a real difference in skin smoothness in the morning. If you break down the basic 3 ingredients you need; herbs, olive oil, and beeswax, you'll find it's extremely cheap too but doesn't have the unpronounceable ingredients in most store salves or the high price tag of those fancy organic lotions.
Here is the link to my basic herbal salve recipe. It's definitely something you have to experiment with to get it just the way you personally like it. Enjoy.
Edited to add: While plastic or glass jars to put your salve in are pretty inexpensive, consider saving the cosmetic containers you have now to use. You can also often find the perfect size containers in those kits of travel bottles you see at your local drugstores, dollar stores, Target or Walmart, etc.
