Frugal Tip - Making Plarn Out of Plastic Grocery Bags for Crafts
What on earth is plarn you ask? It's something I've known about for a while but haven't experimented with yet. But we have so many plastic grocery shopping bags around the house that we're not reusing fast enough as mini-trash bags (they're great for scopping out the cat boxes). Plarn is yarn made from these bags. It's used by many crafters to crochet useful items such as totes and rugs. I've seen some people use it for clothing, though for me that's taking recycling a bit far. Even so, it's a good idea for recycling.
Here are three videos I found on YouTube about plarn. The first one shows you how to make it. The second is a tutorial on how to make a rain hat. The last is a montage from Tina Dean Designs showing several possibilities of plarn projects including totes and bowls. Have frugal fun!
